Respite for family carers

Caring for someone you love is rewarding, but it can also be tiring. Our respite support gives family carers time to rest, see friends, run errands or simply catch their breath, while we spend time with the person they care for.

What this can include

  • Planned breaks on a regular basis, such as one afternoon each week
  • Occasional cover for appointments, events or holidays
  • Daytime, evening or overnight support, including awake night care
  • Keeping your loved one's routine as familiar as possible
  • A handover at the end of each visit

Who it can help

  • Family members who provide care most days
  • Carers who need time for their own health and wellbeing
  • Families planning ahead for a holiday or a busy period

Please note: Respite visits do not include personal care, such as help with washing, dressing or using the toilet. Let us know what support your loved one usually needs, and we will talk through whether our service is the right fit.
